For updating your tablet your tablet must be rooted and also custom recovery image should be installed. Go to USB Debugging and enable it from “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. While updating your device your device doesn’t get turned off when updating process is going on. In this process your data will get lost except your SD card, so back up your phone by following steps which I mentioned below.

Tutorial for Updating ACER Iconia A500 with the latest Jellybean 4.1 Firmware:
Step 1: Root your Acer Iconia A500 device. Now you need to install Acer Recovery application from Google play store for installing custom recovery image.
Step 2: Download Jellybean Update Package to your PC and place it to your Iconia A500 by connecting your device to PC with the help of cable. Don’t place it so inside into subfolders.
Step 3: After placing the package switch of your device then enter to recovery mode by pressing the volume down button and the power button until the recovery logo will not come to screen.
Step 4: While updating anything happens wrong then you can get back to old stock firmware for this in recovery mode select Nandroid Backup option.
Step 5: Then you need to select wipe data option. After that from advanced options you need to clear the Dalvik Cache in the recovery mode to ensure that all the cache files are deleted from your device.
Step 6: Ater wiping up data you will have to select the option “install zip from SD card” and then choose that downloaded zip pakage from your sd card.
Step 7: After choosing that package it will take hardly 4 to 5 minutes, once the installing progress finished it will go back automatically to recovery mode screen. Then in recovery mode screen select Go back and then you will have to select “Reboot system now”.
